Among the usual Lodging Phenomena (caused by storms, or Meteorological Micro-Bursts) there is a sub-class of events that has some special characteristics (Atypical Lodging Phenomena):
- the marks on the ground appear isolated, with no other marks or signs of meteorological damage around (the fields appear otherwise undisturbed)
- there are curious and well-defined semi-geometric (or semi-regular) shapes (although the edges are always rough and jagged)
- the phenomenon can also be seen on sunny days and clear nights and is not necessarily connected with bad weather
- many eyewitnesses claim that the marks on the ground were formed within a few seconds (or at least in a very small fraction of time) by the action of a simple mini air-vortex or a more complex dusty whirlwind phenomenon.
Considering all the above aspects, the most conservative assumption is that the cases of Atypical Lodging are caused by an Unusual (and almost completely ignored) class of extremely localized low energy meteorological phenomena, described by scholars as "localized micro-vortices" or "localized micro-whirlwinds", "micro-tornadoes "or more specifically: "METEOROLOGICAL NANOBURSTS"
A more 'heretic' explanation might be found in the Plasma-Vortex Theory consisting of a combination of Electromagnetic factors with the usual Meteorological factors.
