The "Whoa Signal" was an high-energy signal detected by the SETI program LOBES (Low-Budget-Eti-Search) in 1994 by the Ohio State University Radio Observatory (the "Big Ear").
The signal is described as a transient (very rapid) outburst of energy ("flare-up") of the natural Radio-source OH+519 with an enhancement by a factor of over 10 against the background noise.
The signal does not match the criteria established by SETI to classify an anomalous emission as "artificial", however its origin remains unknown and open to speculations (maybe a rare or entirely novel natural phenomenon).
The Whoa Signal was never detected again by the LOBES Program as well as any other signal with similar characteristics
